Trying to tame the hungry dragons is quite a challenge. We all know the kids will go for the tasty crunch of nacho cheese with something quick like Doritos. But if you're looking for something with more substance and not just empty calories, these are just a few of my favs that include protein/carbs/fat.
Believe me I get it. We all imagine we will be these organic, grass fed, kissed by the angels, homegrown moms, until we actually have kids and we realize McDonalds and Mac n Cheese is what they really want and it's the American go-to on any busy night.
The first thing before you grab the snacks is a big 8oz glass of water. I've realized even when my kids take a water bottle to school, they are still dehydrated by the time they get home, so offering a cool drink of water will help tame the crazy and digest the snacks.
So let's dive in! I guarantee you will have almost all the items to create these quick easy ideas!
1. Banana Bites
Ingredients-
Banana
Almond Butter
Slice banana, add a little almond butter, top with another banana, repeat. I do four banana sandwiches for each kid.
2. Fruit and Veggie Tray
I love making small charcuterie kid boards after school. They love to graze while watching tv and chilling out and it looks pretty to. These boards don't last long, but they satisfy the belly! I'm usually snacking myself setting up the board.
